Walk for Workers

Walk for Workers

37.4 Miles in A Single Day for A Single Purpose

"...all journeys begin with a first step. If you will take this first step with me, I promise, I will go the rest of the way for you."

                                                 -Matt Colglazier, August 30, 2008

On the Saturday of Labor Day Weekend 2008 Matt completed a 37.4 mile, single day walk from Bedford to Seymour along US 50. The Walk was in honor of the working men and women in Southern Indiana and those who have lost their jobs.

The Walk for Workers started with a gathering at the recently closed Visteon Plant in Bedford and concluded just over 12 hours later at Gaiser Park in Seymour. Matt had various volunteers who accompanied him along the route and even more who delivered water and encouragement along the way.

Matt firmly believes we can do a better job of bringing the best companies and the most rock solid employment back to Indiana – where quality of life, Hoosier work ethic, and abundant resources all play a role in making success possible again.

"And we must do a better job of bringing people together, in towns torn sorely apart by partisan fighting, by bickering and lack of common purpose, we must remember that on this Labor Day weekend, we all work for each other."

-Matt Colglazier, August 30, 2008
